Each year the Sons of Thunder hosts its annual Men's Crusade. The Men's Crusade is a free event that includes food, fellowship, fun and worship and is open to all men age 15 and older. This event is funded by donations to Sons of Thunder and is usually held in April or May of each year. The main purpose of the Men's Crusade is to give men the opportunity and encouragement to accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Many men have given their lives to Christ during the Men's Crusade and begun their journey toward the peaceful, joyful, and fulfilling life that only God can give.

Since 2006 the Men's Crusade has been held at Zidon-Avisha, a wildlife retreat and hunting preserve in Elrod, Alabama. Zidon is Hebrew for hunting and fishing and Avisha is Hebrew for gift from God. This privately owned property is graciously provided by its owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, for the purpose of glorifying God. Zidon-Avisha is an approximately 2,000 acre property that includes a beautiful lodge, a bunk house, an approximately 200 acre lake (Lake Sunshine) stocked with bass and bream, and several other smaller stocked lakes. Crusade attendees are encouraged to bring their camping gear and sleep over on Friday night and also to bring their fishing gear and enjoy the great fishing before and after the worship services.

The Men's Crusade begins on Friday afternoon with attendees beginning to arrive around 1pm. Men are encouraged to get their tents set-up early and enjoy fellowship, fishing and some food and drink prior to a steak dinner. Dinner will start around 6pm and will include big, juicy rib eye steaks cooked by SOT brothers. Bottled water and soft drinks are also provided. The worship service begins around 7:30pm and includes some awesome contemporary Christian music, testimony of a speaker, and an opportunity for men to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Saturday's events begin around 7am with SOT brothers serving a breakfast of biscuits, donuts, etc and OJ and coffee. The morning worship service begins around 9:00am and is basically the same format as the Friday night worship service. After the morning worship service, men who have never been baptized or who wish to recommit their lives to Christ through baptism are given the opportunity to be baptized in Lake Sunshine. The baptism ceremony on Saturday morning is a powerful and emotional experience that many men will remember for the rest of their lives. Whether being baptized themselves or seeing their friends or family members baptized, this is truly a joyful and emotional experience for all.

Saturday afternoon men are encouraged to bring out their families and friends and enjoy more food, fun, fellowship and worship. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served beginning around 4pm and bottled water and soft drinks will be available also. Our final worship service, which is open to all (men, women and children), will begin around 5:30pm and end around 7pm. The format of this worship service is similar to the Friday night and Saturday morning worship services. SOT requests that all attendees exit Zidon-Avisha shortly after the Saturday evening worship service.
